Wednesday Study Group: Fall 2024

Wednesdays at 1:00 pm on ZOOM

“Midrash: A Canon of Marginalized Voices”

For millenia, midrash has been used to fill in the holes of our Biblical text. When the narrative did not make sense, our ancestors would simply create the story that filled in the blanks. Recently, modern midrash has been used to fill in the narrative with previously unheard voices. In 2022, a long-awaited anthology of Israeli women’s midrash helped to buoy this genre. Dirshuni: Contemporary Women’s Midrash provides new understandings and lessons for Biblical stories we know and love.

This session of the Wednesday Study Group will continue to meet virtually at 1:00 pm on Zoom, from Wednesday, October 30 — December 18*.
