In moments of profound loss, the journey through grief can feel isolating, overwhelming, and deeply personal. At Washington Hebrew Congregation, we recognize the vital importance of communal support in navigating these difficult times. That’s why we are proud to introduce our reimagined Bereavement Support Group — a sanctuary where congregants can gather to share, learn, and find solace together in the aftermath of loss.
Led by experienced mental health professionals and devoted WHC members, Erica Berger-Brandt, CSW, and Rachel Ehrenberg, CSW, these sessions offer a blend of structured discussions and open dialogue. Each meeting begins with a carefully selected topic related to grief and mourning, allowing participants to explore their emotions and experiences in a supportive environment. From self-care practices to the complexities of Jewish mourning rituals, from managing overwhelming feelings to finding ways to honor the memory of our loved ones, our discussions encompass a wide range of themes essential to the grieving process.
Moreover, our support group is designed to be flexible and accessible to all members of our community. Whether you find solace in attending every session or simply drop in when needed, you are warmly welcomed. Our upcoming meetings, scheduled throughout the summer at Temple and JBSC, offer opportunities to come together in fellowship and understanding:
