The baby boomer generation transformed society in the ’60s and ’70s and changed how the world saw young people. Now, this generation is in their 60s and 70s, and they are challenging assumptions about aging by living longer, being more active than their parents and grandparents, and simply doing things differently as they age. And in the process, are changing the way the world sees older people.

Rabbi Laura Geller, the author of Getting Good at Getting Older is helping this generation create a new paradigm for navigating this next phase of life. She will join us via Zoom to discuss how Jewish tradition and culture can provide tools, resources, and skills to help us shape this new stage of life with humor, irreverence, playfulness, and thoughtfulness.

Geller, Rabbi Emerita of Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills, was twice named one of Newsweek’s 50 Most Influential Rabbis in America and named by PBS Next Avenue as one of 50 Influencers in Aging in 2017. Ordained by Hebrew Union College in 1976, she is the third woman in the Reform Movement to become a rabbi and was one of the first women selected through a national search to lead a major metropolitan synagogue. She was featured in the PBS documentary Jewish Americans, is the author of numerous articles in books and journals, and served on the editorial board of The Torah: A Women’s Commentary.

Rabbi Geller serves as a Fellow of the Corporation of Brown University, from where she graduated in 1971, and on the boards of encore.org and the Jewish Women’s Archives.
