WHC in the DMV

There are so many people in the District, Maryland, and Virginia who need a helping hand. That’s why WE NEED YOU!

WHC in the DMV is our new community volunteer outreach program. Since our Temple’s founding in 1852, Washington Hebrew members have volunteered throughout the region, and until COVID brought much of it to a halt, we maintained a healthy calendar of volunteer activities.

Mitzvah Day, Sunday Stuffing, and our MLK Day of Service continue to satisfy many members’ desires to do good and contribute on behalf of those in need. WHC in the DMV is for those who want to get outside of Temple and come face-to-face with the organizations and people in need that benefit from our involvement.

  • Feeding families at the NIH Children’s Inn, where families stay when children receive experimental treatment on campus.
  • Packing meals at Food & Friends, who provide meals and groceries for people facing life-challenging health issues.
  • Bingo at Charles E. Smith Life Communities, great for all ages who want to spend some quality time with our seniors.
