What are High Holy Day Intergenerational services?

We are excited to share this year’s guide for Washington Hebrew’s Intergenerational High Holy Day services.

The services at both buildings offer the same rich and resonant High Holy Day liturgy and will carry you through the spiritual and emotional highlights of these Days of Awe. The feel of the services will vary depending on the building you choose to attend.

At Temple, our Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur services will take place in our Sanctuary with all the grandeur and beauty it offers. Our cantors and rabbis will be accompanied by our dedicated and talented musical director, David Lang on both organ and piano, along with our 12-voice Festival Choir, most of whom have been with us for a decade. These services are rich with tradition and the glorious melodies, both traditional and contemporary, will lift your prayers.

At the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center (JBSC), our Erev Rosh HaShanah Under the Stars and Rosh HaShanah morning services will be accompanied by our beloved Macomb St. Shabbat musicians. Our Kol Nidrei and Yom Kippur Morning services will be accompanied by a piano, violin, and cello trio. Rosh HaShanah Under the Stars will take place outside on the lovely JBSC grounds, while the other services will take place in our indoor worship area. These services are infused with beauty and contemporary melodies and will encourage you to raise your voice in prayer.

Whichever services you attend — at Temple, JBSC, via livestream, or a combination — your experience will be heightened by being together with your fellow congregants, and by the spirituality and holiness these holidays suffused.
