Home > Worship > Elul
The Hebrew letters that make up Elul — aleph, lamed, vav, lamed — are an acronym for Ani L’Dodi, v’Dodi Li (I am My Beloved’s, and My Beloved is Mine), from the Song of Songs, 6:3. Most often interpreted as love poetry between a man and a woman, the phrase also reflects the love between God and the Jewish people.
This year, Elul begins Wednesday, September 4. We will be posting weekly reflections from our clergy here and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

In 2021, WHC’s clergy created the Soulful Series to share reflections, meditations, music, and prayers focusing on emotions, helping you connect and spiritually prepare for the High Holy Days.
You can also find WHC’s “Soulful Series” wherever you download podcasts.
