It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share that Lewis Wiener, our beloved WHC President, died from pancreatic cancer last night. The funeral is scheduled for 11:30 am, Thursday at Temple, followed by burial at the Garden of Remembrance.
The family will receive shiva visitors at the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center (JBSC) Thursday and Saturday evenings starting at 7:00 pm, and the shiva minyan is at 7:30 pm. We know you may want to be in community at this time, and as always, we will gather for Shabbat@WHC this Friday at Temple beginning at 6:30 pm.
We feel so very blessed to have known and worked with Lew, who made Washington Hebrew Congregation his Jewish home and community nearly 40 years ago when he was a law student at American University.
His caring, compassionate, leadership and friendship have forever made our Congregation stronger and our lives richer.
As we think about Lew and his indelible impact on our community, we turn our hearts and thoughts to his wife, Alisa, their son, Zach, and we remember their beautiful daughters Jillian and Lindsay of blessed memory, lifting them up and surrounding them with the same extraordinary love he gave to our Congregation.
Zichrono livracha – May his memory be a blessing.
