It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that Larry Oladipupo passed away on September 6. Mr. Larry, as the children called him, was an integral part of the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center (JBSC) building management team and a constant presence for our ECC community.
Big Larry always had a smile for everyone.
Larry worked at WHC as a maintenance supervisor for 18 years. Every morning Larry walked into the building with a big smile and was ready for the day ahead. As part of the maintenance team, Larry helped with all our day-to-day tasks, keeping our building and grounds clean and safe for all, assisting with programs such as Hunger Project, Metro Minyan, WWHC Boutique, High Holy Days, Summer concerts, Purim, Tot Shabbats, Falls Rd. Shabbat, ECC Private events, and everything else in between.
Michael Aguilar, JBSC Facilities Manager, had this to say:
“Larry was not just my colleague; He was also a dear friend to me. We work long days and nights together but working with Larry made everything much better and easier. His commitment to WHC and its community was remarkable and inspiring to all of us. His charisma was evident from the ECC kids shouting, ‘Good morning Mr. Larry,’ to everyone that interacted with him. It didn’t take long for people to feel his unique kindness and love.
Larry was a family guy and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather to his beloved wife Mrs. Cynthia Oladipupo, their sons Lamar and Larry Jr., and their five grandchildren, Charisma, Lamarqus, Lamariana, Lamya, and Lamarion.
Larry was a big NFL fan (‘Go Washington Commanders’), enjoyed dancing, and relaxing to good music paired with his favorite Nigerian food.
Mr. Larry was a gentle force that will be missed, and the legacy of his memory will always be a blessing.”
