Almost 1,000 WHC members gave their time and made a difference as a part of Mitzvah Day on Sunday, April 30.
Working together, our volunteers at Temple and the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center:
Put together more than 3,000 healthy snack bags for kids in our community; Assembled nearly 2,000 turkey sandwiches for the homeless; Made 15,336 WHC Hunger Project meals; Packed nearly 1,000 toiletry kits for people in need; Knotted over 400 fleece blankets for the homeless; Cut over 100 pounds of vegetables for Martha’s Table; Baked and decorated 50 birthday cakes for families in need;
…and much more!
In addition, teams of volunteers headed out into the community to repair a home in D.C., visit with residents at assisted living facilities, cheer up seniors with their dogs, and spend a fun afternoon with children in need. We also had a number of pre-scheduled and walk-in donors give life-saving blood to support the patients at Children’s National Health System.
Mitzvah Day would not be possible without the help of volunteers like you. Special thanks to Co-Chairs Wendy Cohen and Sharon Kessler for their leadership.
